This is the homepage for Sean's Eberron campaign.

(As I have time I will add more sections and sub-sections below, as well as links to details.)

Contents

Overview

A series of dramatic role-playing adventures with detailed characters and a focus on plot and player interaction over rules mechanics.

(Needs more blah blah blah.[--Sum1els 09:54, 30 October 2007 (IST)])

Players

Players are expected to have an adult role-playing attitude, and will be trusted not to try to break the game. In exchange, the players will be given a lot of latitude in character creation and play.

Some specific players will be invited, but if others would like to join, they are welcome to contact the DM. The play sessions will take place in the Seattle, WA area, probably in some or all of Bellevue, Renton, and Kent.

So far [--Sum1els 19:22, 21 December 2007 (IST)] nine players have expressed some level of interest in the game and five have submitted character concepts. Four have managed to create a wiki account and edit this page. (Players: please update this paragraph appropriately. Please feel free to add content to the wiki yourselves, too.)

(Backlinks to Player homepages and/or mailto links go here.)

World

This campaign will begin in the standard Eberron world in 998 YK. The world will be relatively faithful to published materials, but like any D&D campaign, may stray from time-to-time and from place-to-place. This is usually done for plot purposes, rather than metagaming prevention. (Or it may inadvertently stray from canon simply because the DM is not an Eberron expert.)

(Links to information about major NPCs, groups, and locations introduced in the campaign go here.)

Rules

The standard AD&D 3.5 rules will be used as a base. This game will focus on roleplaying and adventure rather than tabletop miniatures tactics battles, however, so there will be a higher degree of flexibility in the rules than some are used to. Most combats will be run without the use of gridded maps at all. Players wishing to do something that breaks or is not covered by the rules are encouraged to discuss the idea with the DM (preferably out of session.)

(Links to house rules and significant rules changes that come up go here.)

Characters

Characters will begin play around 10th level. Character development, however, will start at 1st level. Characters will advance rapidly through a series of email interactions with the DM: the player and the DM briefly discuss the significant events in the Character's life between this level and the next, the player fills in the details and the Character advances a level. The game will not, however, be PBEM.

(Links to character histories, stats, etc. go here.)

Schedule

If you want to play, now is the time to express your interest. Actual play may begin in the December holiday season, if family schedules will allow it. Currently [--Sum1els 20:52, 14 December 2007 (IST)] it looks like any 2007 play will only involve 3-4 players. Others will probably join in early 2008, if at all.

Once the group has solidified, and Character generation is well underway, a more specific session schedule will be determined. (We won't try to find an evening everyone can play until we know who "everyone" is.)

(Overall schedule and deadlines and related discussions go here.)

  • 2007/12/2 - Initial character concepts have been sent to the DM. Players have discussed the intended advancement at least roughly with the DM.
  • 2007/12/16 - 1st level character "sheets" have been submitted to the DM. Individual character rapid advancement has begun.
  • 2007/12/? - Characters have advanced to about 10th level, backgrounds are documented, and characters are ready for play.
